SuJon's Growers
Pioneering New Zealand berry farming families producing world class berries
for the premium Sujon range:
Sujon’s Blackcurrants
Phil and John Hyatt and their wives (Raewyn and Pat) farm around 4000 acres
of land in the Upper Moutere’s Sunrise Valley and at Tapawera in the Motueka
Valley. The land is divided into forestry and sheep and cattle farming along
with their world-class blackcurrant farms. In addition the Hyatt’s have set
aside a major area of unique New Zealand native bush as part of a QE2
covenant. The Hyatt’s Blackcurrant farms are on the flatlands in Sunrise
Valley and at Tapawera are nestled at the foothills of the Kahurangi
National Park. Both areas create perfect growing and ripening conditions for
the Hyatt’s Blackcurrant berries: the fierce intensity of the sunlight in
this area producing amazing levels of health-giving anthocyanin antioxidants
in the berries.
Sujon’s Blackberries
Kate and Tim Gibb’s Stanmore Farm is at Te Horo on the Kapiti Coast. The
rugged coastal environment is perfect for growing pears and grapevines. But
more importantly, the area produces amazing blackberries and Stanmore Farm
is famous for its plump, densely coloured Blackberries. The coastal climate
creates a combination of intense sunlight and vigorous temperature changes
that sets the perfect combination of sweetness and tart in the ripe fruit,
and for creating high levels of the all-important antioxidants as evidenced
by the wonderful rich colour of the berries.
Sujon’s Blueberries
Graham and Diane Beach and their two sons and wives, Glen and Linda, John
and Bronwyn, are one of New Zealand’s longest standing blueberry farming
families. For more than 20 years their superb succulent blueberries have
helped New Zealand establish a reputation for producing some of the world’s
finest blueberry fruit. The Beaches Blueberry farms are at Rukuhia, in the
foothills of the Waikato’s Pirongia Mountain. The area, with its own
microclimate, has been proven to produce wonderful fruit with exceptional
antioxidant values.
Sujon's Apples
Hamish Rush is a 4th generation orchardist in the idyllic Tasman-Golden Bay
region of New Zealand. This region is rated one of the top three
apple-growing regions of the world (along with the Loire Valley of France
and New York States Hudson valley). Hamish farms apples, pears and
blackcurrants with his father and their families. The family’s orchards are
sited in the historic Tasman Village on the Tasman-Golden Bay coastline.
Facing north into the sun, the fruit gets exceptionally intense sunshine
during the day and bracing cool coastal air at night. This day-night
temperature fluctuation coupled with rich mineral-laden soil, and pure water
and air quality, is the key to locking superb flavours and health values
into the apples themselves. Hamish’s orchard produces premium Braeburn
apples and it’s from orchards such as his that Sujon sources the best
Braeburn apples possible for its 100% New Zealand-grown Apple Berry Mix.
